Building Terratronic.

From the first idea to the finished product, this is the development journal of the Terratronic C1. The latest update appears first.

  1. App nearly complete and first final unit in continuous operation

    Placeholder

The Terratronic app is nearly complete. At the same time, the first final C1 is running continuously on a real terrarium. Lighting, heating, misting and sensor readings are monitored around the clock before launch.

  2. New temperature sensor manufacturer found

    Placeholder

After problems with the previous test batch, we found a new temperature sensor manufacturer. Initial samples have been requested for thorough testing.

  3. Temperature sensor test batch shows too many faults

    Placeholder

The latest sensor batch arrived and was tested, but showed too many outliers, fluctuating readings and individual defects. We are therefore looking for a more reliable manufacturer.

  4. The first prototypes from China have arrived

After some delay, five C1 prototypes have arrived and are undergoing extensive testing. We are documenting minor manufacturing issues for the next test series.

  5. Website goes live

    Placeholder

terratronic.io goes live with SEO, sitemap and structured data in place.

  6. The app takes shape

    Placeholder

The dashboard, device overview and controls become interactive while we select the infrastructure for device communication.

  7. First temperature sensor tests

    Placeholder

The wireless temperature sensor is tested on a real terrarium for the first time. Range, accuracy and battery life meet our targets.

  8. First talks with China

Flags of China and Germany representing Terratronic manufacturing cooperation

Initial calls with potential manufacturing partners cover technology, components, quality assurance and realistic C1 volumes.

  9. Product design

    Placeholder

Sketches become the final C1 enclosure design, simple, modern and compact enough for any terrarium setup.

  10. App development begins

The first Terratronic app code is written while a second hardware prototype runs with a revised control board.

  11. First prototype tests

    Placeholder

A first wired prototype and simple interface are tested. Lighting, heating and misting switch automatically for the first time.

  12. The idea is born

    Placeholder

Cable clutter, overloaded power strips and three timers per terrarium reveal the need for a better way to control enclosures. Terratronic is born.
